Persistence Pays in Pentathlon Champs for Alfie
Young Alfie Kelway of Colchester and Tendring A C did himself proud when winning the under 13 boys Essex Pentathlon Championships at Thurrock on Sunday he showed his versatility when covering the 75mets Hurdles in 13-5=Shot Putt 6m 26c=Long Jump 3m 97c =High Jump 1m 27c and 8oomets 2min 38-9 for a total of 1382 points to win Gold in style, Report by John Hyland
A quartet of teenages from CATS were rewarded for their eagerness to compete in the Watford weekday Open evening track meeting by running P B’s in their respective 800 meter races, Joe Patterson U17 who is in good form finished strongly in 2min 5s-83, Ami Fosker U20 in only her 3rd race over the 8oo mets this season ran from the front with confidence to break the 20secs barrier winning in a time of 2mins-18s-61, Georgina Sturgeon U17w gave a good account of herself having her best race to date 2mins-24s-87 whilst Phillipa Baxter U17 continued to make steady progress with a fine time of 2mins-33s-38.

In the Southend open Bank Holiday meeting 15year Georgie Sturgeon did well in her 8oomets coming 3rd overall with a time of 2mins 28.3secs in very wet conditions. Report by John Hyland

Park run win!!
15 year old Lydia Callan of Colchester and Tendring was first lady home in the Colchester park run on Saturday she crossed finishing line in 20min 19secs pb a age category best.
CATs at Woodford Green Open
Colchester and Tendring had a trio of young middle distance runners competing at the Woodford Green Open Track/Field meeting on Saturday, 14 year old Lydia Callum ran her 1500 mets in 5mins 14. 1 a PB by a staggering 29secs the benefit of a good winter training; 14year old Georgia Sturgeon also regained her form after just recovering from a serious ankle injury she ran her 800mets in a respectable 2min 33. 3 secs; 15year old Joe Patterson continued his warm-up schedule for the summer season with an impressive 3000mets in 9mins 43secs .
