Situated at the heart of Britain's oldest recorded town is the home of Colchester and Tendring Athletics Club. We take pride in the level of coaching we provide our athletes and the dedication of the many volunteers behind the scenes. Our younger athletes are encouraged with training programmes that include elements of all disciplines through fun activities. As they progress through the club to U13's and upwards, the training is more focussed on specific events with tailored training programmes. Please visit this web site regularly for information on forthcoming matches, results and news.

SAL - Cambridge
Athletics is all about fine margins. With exam time being upon us, it was down to the veteran members of the club to step up and fill the many gaps at Cambridge in the SAL on Saturday. They tried their hardest to do this, but it was a big ask for us to take on clubs with such quality as Cambridge & Coleridge, Dacorum & Tring and West Suffolk. The final points totals were very close, but CATs still slipped back to fourth place by just eight points. The breezy and overcast conditions were’t really suited to great performances, but many of the team rose to the challenge during a very spirited afternoon’s athletics.
The Women were the better points scorers, Lauren Woodiwiss gained a notable double, winning the 100m & 200m A string races, her 100m time of 13.2secs was also a PB. Amy Fosker was back from University to win the B string 200m and gained second in the 400m A string. Debbie Castle had a good day in the throws, winning the Discus, Hammer and was also second in the Javelin. Her sister April was second in the Triple Jump, Long Jump (5.05m PB) and the B string Javelin. The ladies finished a good afternoon by winning both the 4x400m and 4x100m relays. Ellisa Baggott gained second place on her SAL debut in the high jump with a leap of 1.45m and Elsie Gray was second A string in the 800m.
The Men were boosted by the return of Tom Gifford, who finished second in the 200m. Ollie Eves made his SAL debut and scored valuable points in the B string 200m (2nd 24.2s PB) and third place in the long jump A string. Dimitri Solomonov had a good afternoon, he won the 110m hurdles in a PB time of 17.4 seconds, second in the high jump and competed in the steeplechase for the first time. William Page came second in the 400m and also won the B string 3000m. Dave Kelway jumped to second place in the pole vault with 2.55m, also a PB. Jason Eghan threw a PB in the Shot Put of 10.49m. Both mens teams finished second in the 4x400m and 4x100m with gutsy runs much to the delight of the rest of the squad.

EYAL 8th May
Congratulations to Sam Shippey for his performance on Sunday at a sweltering Woodford Green in the EYAL team. All the athletes did themselves proud with numerous personal best’s being achieved despite the hot conditions. However, the highlight of the afternoon was in the U13 Boys 800m, where Sam’s winning time of 2 minutes 18.17 seconds which was a new club age group record, breaking the previous one held by Michael Porter. The time may well place Sam in the top three in the country, subject to other results being published. Sam also gained a PB with a win in the 200m with a time of 26.9. Full results will be published shortly.
